レッドドットスクール主催のWork Partyのご案内です。本ワークショップは、施工体験や材の探求を中心とした短期プログラムです。RDS卒業生である鶴井洋佑と協力し、佐木島での解体作業をサポートする資材庫(ストックヤード)を制作します。
• 島の中で収集した素材を構造体または仕上げ材として使用すること。
• 組み立て・解体、そして持ち運びしやすい構法とすること。
• 建設前後を含めたすべてのプロセスを、解体材のアップサイクルやその知識を広げる実験の場とすること。
• 複数人でともにつくることを通じて、コミュニティの活性化や建築の美的価値を生み出すこと。
• 解体材や島で収集できる素材と向き合い、手を加えそれらの性質を探求する場とする (材のトリアージ、スキャニング、解体材の新しい評価軸の設定、解体材と島の材料の組み合わせ方etc…) こと。
市営住宅の解体を始める5月のプログラム開始時までに、ストックヤードの施工完了することを目指します。今回はそのプロセスの一部として、参加者が島にある素材を収集し、それらを使った制作に関わる技術を自らの手を通して学び・新しく創り上げることを目的とした1週間のワークショップを行います。最後は
PARADISOの友人をお招きし、楽しいパーティーで締めくくりましょう！
The Red Dot School is collaborating with alumni Yosuke Tsurui to design elements of a moveable "stockyard" to support our deconstruction work on Sagishima, based on the following guidelines:
• The structure may only use materials from the island
• The structure should be engineered for relatively quick assembly/disassembly as well as portability
• The construction/testing process must expand our knowledge of salvage reuse strategies (experimental)
• The structure should facilitate/enhance the social & aesthetic aspects of communal deconstruction labor in some way
• The structure should provide for the sorting and storage of salvaged materials, as well as workspace for material refurbishment & analysis (cutting off rotten ends of beams, planing, sanding, cleaning rooftiles, scanning, measuring, etc.)
The deadline for this project is the beginning of our summer workshop season, during which we'll begin the deconstruction and transportation of a vacant house. We've asked Tsurui-san to help organize a five-day workshop in the springtime which participants can learn the various crafts involved in it's making, culminating in a construction event and a celebration.

ワークショップ開始日は、2024年3月21日（木）正午です。島での草葺きの可能性の探求やサルベージされた木材や資材の実験的なアップサイクルを資材庫の施工を通して実践します。夜は島の人々と交流したり、参加者同士で楽しく過ごしましょう。5日目は、
PARADISOの友人をお招きし、お祝いを行います。(🌸🌙) 解散は3月26日(月)の朝食後を予定しております。
参加者はレッドドットスクールで管理する住福邸（畳部屋の2階建て建物）に滞在していただきます。講師、特別ゲストとの昼食等、格明舎をワークショップの拠点とします。かつて診療所や須ノ上地区のコミュニティ拠点として利用されてきた、島に現存する最古の公共建築物です。
参加者一人当たりの費用は25,000円です（宿泊費、食事、最終日パーティーを含む）ご参加をお待ちしております。お申し込み前に質問などがあれば、メールまたはインスタDMにてお気軽にお問い合わせください。
We'll begin on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at noon. During the first three days, we'll learn crafts such as rope-making & thatched roof-making, sort and refurbish salvaged wood using traditional and modern tools, and probably drink a lot with islanders in the evenings. We'll assemble the structure on Sunday, and hold a night-time 🌸 cherry blossom viewing party 🌙 in collaboration with our friends at
PARADISO on Monday evening. We'll disperse on Tuesday, March 26th, after breakfast.
Participants will stay in the
Sumifuku House (one of the buildings we're taking care of on the island). It is a two-story home with various tatami rooms. Craftwork, lectures, and lunches with special guests will be held in the
Kakumeisha, our nearby school building. An 18-tatami meeting hall, it's the oldest standing public structure on the island. Woodworking and large material sorting will take place at the Sunoue Elementary School gymnasium.
A fee of ¥25,000 per participant will cover accommodations, meals, and the party.
